Seasonal Jobs & Planning

Spring

As the weather warms up, you will notice the garden bursting into life.  Here are a few idea to keep you up to date.

bulletDig any new beds or boarders in fair weather.  This will allow frost action to assist in the breakdown of the soil.
bulletPlant bare root shrubs and deciduous trees.
bulletTidy borders by cutting back dead herbaceous growth and clearing leaves.
bulletInspect tress and woody shrubs for wind and frost damage and remove dead branches.
bulletBegin cleaning and sterilising pots and equipment.
bulletThe first grass cut of the season: use your highest mower setting.
bulletBegin preparing ground for seeding or turfing.
bulletThink about baskets and containers for the coming seasons.
bulletConsider seasonal bedding schemes and border planting.
